Met de nieuwe Suzuki Baleno, ook met Smart Hybrid aandrijving verkrijgbaar, heeft het Japanse automerk vanaf het voorjaar 2016 de Baleno weer in haar assortiment opgenomen. Deze nieuwe hatchback is helemaal van deze tijd, met een attractieve styling en uitrusting. De nieuwe Suzuki Baleno Smart Hybrid is verkrijgbaar in de High Executive uitvoering met vele extra’s die je niet snel in een auto in dit prijssegment verwacht.
Suzuki Baleno Smart Hybrid
De Suzuki Baleno is geen onbekende naam in de automobielbranche. Van 1995 tot en met 2001 voerden de Japanners deze naam ook voor een model op de Europese markt. De nieuwe Suzuki Baleno is de grotere broer van de Suzuki Swift en neemt een plaats in het zogeheten B-segment, de compacte klasse. Het nieuwe model is in 2015 getoond op de autoshow van Frankfurt en vanaf voorjaar 2016 verkrijgbaar op de Europese markt.
De auto staat op een geheel nieuw ontworpen platform en wordt vooralsnog alleen in India gebouwd. Bij het ontwerpen is rekening gehouden met het gewicht van de auto. De nieuwe Baleno is met nog geen 850 kilogram de lichtste in zijn klasse. Dit heeft meerdere voordelen, zoals de wegenbelasting en het brandstofverbruik. De auto is ook verkrijgbaar met een hybride aandrijving: de nieuwe Suzuki Baleno Smart Hybrid.
Design
De nieuwe Suzuki Baleno Smart Hybrid is een moderne auto. Het design is eigentijds met een fraai lijnenspel over de gehele lengte van de auto, welke lijken samen te komen in de grille van de auto. De 5-deurs hatchback oogt compact van buiten, maar is verrassend ruim vanbinnen. Naast het feit dat je met het hele gezin prima kunt zitten, óók achterin, is er nog steeds 355 liter aan bagageruimte achterin. De styling van de auto maken het design verder af.
Uitrusting
Zo is de nieuwe Suzuki Baleno Smart Hybrid alleen verkrijgbaar in de High Executive uitvoering: met 16” lichtmetalen wielen, LED-verlichting achter en dagrijverlichting en chromen accenten in de sierlijsten van de ramen. Dit geeft de auto aan de buitenzijde een klasse uitstraling. Binnen in de auto tref je eveneens chromen accenten, stoelverwarming voor en veel opbergruimte. De auto is uitgerust met achteruitrijcamera, 7” navigatiesysteem, uitgebreide audio met Bluetooth voor telefoonaansluiting, climate control, cruise control en keyless push start. De auto is voorzien airbags, ABS en vele ander elektronische veiligheidssystemen.

- Gecombineerd vermogen: 90 pk
- Gemiddelde CO2-uitstoot: 93 gram per kilometer
De nieuwe Suzuki Baleno Smart Hybrid heeft een 1.2 liter Multipoint injectie benzinemotor met 4 cilinders en is voorzien van een Start/Stop systeem, wat bijdraagt aan een lager brandstofverbruik. De transmissie wordt verzorgd door 5-versnellingsbak die handmatig wordt bediend.
Het Smart Hybrid Vehicle System van Suzuki slaat de vrijgekomen energie bij het afremmen op in een Lithium-ion batterij. Deze opgeslagen energie wordt gebruik bij het starten, accelereren en natuurlijk voor de verlichting en audio/navigatie.
Concurrentie
Er zijn in de compacte klasse steeds meer auto’s beschikbaar met een hybride aandrijving. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan de Toyota Yaris en Honda Jazz. Het zijn opvallend met name de Aziatische automerken die met hybride uitvoeringen komen in de lagere klassen.
